Madrid to host the FIPP World Media Congress 2026

Publishers, journalists and international media leaders will gather in Madrid from 13 to 15 October

Frankfurt, Paris and Madrid, 29 September 2026 – Madrid will become the meeting place for the global media industry this October as the FIPP World Media Congress returns to the Spanish capital.

Supported by Madrid City Council, the Congress will bring together more than 500 senior industry professionals from over 40 countries from 13 to 15 October. They will discuss and examine the challenges facing the industry’s next era under the theme “FIPP101: The Fundamentals of Media’s Future.”

Confirmed speakers include TIME CEO Jessica Sibley; TED Head of Curation Cyndi Stivers; Harvard Business Review Group Editorial Director and Senior Vice President Erika Heilman; Head of Value Propositions for Economist Pro at The Economist Group Daisy Donald; The Guardian Group Chief Information Officer Pooja Bagga; and former Australian Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts Paul Fletcher.

Madrid’s media industry will play a prominent role in this international dialogue. SpainMedia and ARI Founder and President Andrés Rodríguez will join FIPP’s Alastair Lewis in officially welcoming delegates to the Congress. Other participants will include Unidad Editorial Board Member and CEO Laura Múgica; ARI Managing Director Yolanda Ausín; MANERA Founder Enric Pastor; and RBA Revistas Digital Director Àlex Poderoso.

Andrés Rodríguez said: “Madrid gave FIPP’s international community an exceptional welcome when it hosted our centenary Congress last year. We are therefore delighted to return and to once again have the support of Madrid City Council.”

Alastair Lewis, Managing Director of FIPP: Consumer Media and Specialised Publishing at WAN-IFRA, said: “Ultimately, the Congress is about bringing people and ideas together, and Madrid is the natural setting in which to do so: a creative, outward-looking city with a thriving media community of its own. We are excited to bring hundreds of industry leaders together here once again in October.”

Madrid has established itself as an increasingly important international hub for media, culture and the creative industries, as well as a natural meeting point between Europe and the Spanish-speaking world. This year’s Congress will once again place the city at the heart of an international exchange of ideas, bringing together hundreds of industry decision-makers and leading figures from Spain’s publishing sector.

The Congress will begin on 13 October with the official Welcome Reception, bringing all delegates together in the gardens of the Palacio de Linares, home of Casa de América.
