Goli Sheikholeslami is the Chief Executive Officer of POLITICO, the most successful media startup of the digital age and the leading global news organization covering politics, policy and power.

Since becoming CEO in 2022, Sheikholeslami has transformed POLITICO from a Washington-based publication with a nascent Brussels newsroom into a global, multiplatform news source with a durable, high-performing business model. At the forefront of Sheikholeslami’s mission is a commitment to POLITICO’s distinctive journalism that drives the most consequential conversations around the world.

Under Sheikholeslami’s leadership, POLITICO has significantly expanded its reach. In the U.S., it has deepened state-level coverage, including establishing a leading presence in California and New York. Across Europe, POLITICO has become the most influential media outlet for European decision-makers, with hubs in Brussels, London, Paris, Berlin, and later this year, in Madrid. In the United Kingdom, POLITICO’s coverage of Westminster has made London Playbook the most-read morning briefing for Members of Parliament. Independent surveys consistently confirm POLITICO as the top daily politics briefing in Brussels (EU Institutions), London (Westminster) and Washington, D.C. (Congress). As POLITICO approaches its third decade, it is expanding to a third continent, Australia, with the launch of Canberra Playbook in the second half of 2026.

Previously, Sheikholeslami served as CEO of New York Public Radio and Chicago Public Media and held senior leadership roles at The Washington Post, Condé Nast and Time Warner. She serves as board chair of the Arthur F. Burns Fellowship and sits on the advisory board of Georgetown University. Sheikholeslami has also served on the boards of DHI Group, NPR and Patreon. In 2020, she was honored with a Great Immigrants Award by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Sheikholeslami received her undergraduate degree in international economics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
